As an NGO the Helderberg Rape Crisis Center is constantly needing funds to continue its work. All contributions and donations are gratefully recieved, THANK YOU for your support.
Fundraising Activities
Rape Crisis Helderberg is entirely funded by private donors, businesses and fundraising events held by our fundraising team. The ongoing fundraising is very necessary to pay the running expenses of a fully equipped crisis centre, counselling offices at the Helderberg Hospital, the police station in Nomzamo and in Sir Lowry’s Pass, a safe house and various support groups. In addition four full-time employees need to be paid their salaries. Our fundraising activities enable us to raise the necessary expenses and raise awareness in the community about rape, abuse and our services.
Fundraising activities vary slightly from year to year depending on staff and volunteers available to run events and also the needs we have. Most years a Spring Fashion Show is held in the local community with about 300 ladies joining us for a morning of fun. A raffle is held once or twice a year, collection tins are placed in the community, as well as tele-fundraising and general fundraising activities. When the opportunity for stalls at local markets and fairs arise, we try to have a presence if staff and volunteers are available on that day.
